If you’ve been diagnosed with one of these tendon problems then chances are you are having difficulty with returning to sports or other recreational activities you enjoy, or you may be having trouble with repetitive activities at work.

The most commonly affected areas are the Achilles, patella, hamstring, gluteal, shoulder and elbow tendons.

These tendon problems can be difficult to resolve, but the good news is that there are more studies showing that exercise is one of the most effective ways of treating these irritable tendons.

Recent research is promising, showing that isometric exercise can reduce tendon pain:

Progressive strength training is also beneficial for tendon recovery, with modifications made to address each patient’s particular injury. The research has indicated that concentric, eccentric and heavy slow resistance training protocols are all viable exercise treatment options depending on tendon status. Usually, a gradual return to sporting or recreational activity can be made at this stage.
